Image 1. Image – a fragment of speech components of which, when brought together, have a meaning not equivalent to their mechanical sum. The image when repeated acquires the function of a symbol. 2. Types: visual (зрительный), auditory (слуховой), tactile (осязательный), gustatory (вкусовой), olfactory (обонятельный). 3. Synesthesia (syneasthesia) – sensation produced in one modality when a stimulus is applied to another modality, as when the hearing of a certain sound induces the visualization of a certain color: a warm colour, a sharp colour, cold light, soft light, soft voice, a sharp sound. 4. Functions: 1) reflection of reality (recognition!!!); 2) modelling of reality(uniqueness – surprise effect: objects brought into comparison must be sufficiently distant to generate that effect); 3) compression; 4) specification and generalization; 5.
