Luke Harding is the author of "Invasion" best-seller and the case of ambivalence below:
“Western nations agreed on the nature of the invasion. There was no dispute about what happened in spring 2022 and what it fundamentally meant. As Zelensky said, this was not a war waged by Russia against only Ukraine. It was ultimately a war for the future of the world order and for the right to dictate conditions in Europe. A war, then, of ideas.” [Harding, 2022: 151]
As simple as that!
A wonderful little piece of “clear” language involving:
1. Simple introductory: “Western nations agreed on the nature of the invasion”,
2. False assumption: “No dispute|”,
3. Pompous hyperbole: “a war for the future of the world order”,
4. Diagnosis of the event as clear as day: “invasion”,
5. False equivalence: “the world order” – “conditions in Europe”,
6. Freudian slip of the tongue: “the right to dictate”,
7. Allusion to the prestigious status: “Zelensky”.
