The line “For fools rush in where angels fear to tread” was first written by Alexander Pope in his poem An Essay on Criticism. It is used now as a proverb that means: inexperienced people jump into situations that wiser, experienced people avoid.

Putin is a dictator, but romanticizing Zelensky as if he were the hero of our times is a fool’s rush in where angels fear to tread.

"game changers and miracle solutions" -  readily understood, but time-consuming units in translation.

It is hard to believe the hype that potential deployments of German Leopard and U.S. Abrams tanks have triggered in the western media. Every expert and wargamer seems eager to sell the new weapons offered to Ukraine as miracle solutions and so-called gamechangers.

This is blatant ignorance; war is not a game. Battles are fought at the tactical and operational levels, but wars are won and lost in the strategic realm.

Трудно поверить, какая шумиха поднялась в западных СМИ после объявлений о передаче Украине немецких танков "Леопард" и американских "Абрамс". Такое чувство, что любой мало-мальский знаток считает новое оружие для Украины этакой панацеей, которая, как по волшебству, перепишет правила игры.

Это вопиющее невежество: война — не игра. Сражения ведутся на тактическом и оперативном уровнях, но войны выигрываются и проигрываются в стратегической сфере.
